Police say fight over dirt bike sale led to shooting deaths of 16-year-old, 21-year-old

ATHENS, Ga. — Police say a teenager and a 21-year-old man were shot and killed during a meeting to sell a dirt bike.

Police said brothers Casey and Tyler Parten drove to Athens on May 17 from Flowery Branch to buy a dirt bike from 16-year-old Ashawn Adams.

Adams had advertised the bike on Facebook Marketplace.

Police said that when the group met up in the Stonehenge subdivision, a fight resulted in gunfire. It’s unclear who the shooters were.

Adams was killed at the scene. Casey Parten, 21, was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries on May 19. Tyler Parten, 24, was not injured.

It’s unclear if anyone is facing any charges in the shootings.

Detectives said they would like to speak to anyone who may have had an interaction via Facebook Marketplace regarding the purchase of a dirt bike in the Stonehenge neighborhood.
