Police said units responded to a domestic dispute around 10 a.m. Jarrett threatened to kill his ex-wife and children, according to police.
Channel 2′s Matt Johnson was in the neighborhood Friday afternoon, when kids were starting to come home from school. Parents have been getting messages about the situation all day.
A SWAT vehicle roamed the neighborhood throughout the afternoon and a police car escorted a bus soon after school officials lifted the lockdown.
Durk Bryant waited all day to pick up his daughter.
“It’s very unsettling to hear something like that and get a notice schools are on lockdown,” Bryant said.
People were especially on edge because the search for Jarrett was in the same neighborhood police said a man killed his wife last August.
“Because of the situation that happened recently with the last family, it’s probably more precautionary,” Bryant said.
Jarrett is still on the run and is considered armed and dangerous. He’s facing charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault, rape and more.
