The one chip challenge involves eating a tortilla chip from Paqui “made with two of the spiciest chili peppers in the world, the Carolina Reaper Pepper and Scorpion Pepper.”
The Dunwoody Police Department posted that medical professionals say “the challenge can cause serious side effects including severe coughing, asthma, serious burning of the eyes and mouth and vomiting.”

Police are encouraging parents to talk about the challenge with their children and the reasons why they should not participate.
Georgia Poison Control warned of the challenge in Nov. 2021. Several students at Northwestern Middle School in Milton ate the chips and had to call poison control.
The department says it wants to prevent any injuries from social media challenges.
