ATLANTA — A busy metro Atlanta Chick-fil-A location will close this week as the restaurant prepares for a massive $3 million renovation.
The Chick-fil-A Peachtree at Collier across from Piedmont Atlanta Hospital announced it will stop service after Thursday. The franchise location had been operating in the area for almost 23 years.

As part of the renovation, the Collier location will also take over the property next door that used to have a liquor store.
“A lot of thought and care have gone into the plans for our new and improved restaurant. Whether you’re a nurse at Piedmont Hospital, a staff member at the Shepherd’s Center, a resident in Brookwood Hills, or you’re simply visiting the Buckhead/Midtown area, we’re building this restaurant with you in mind. We hope that it will be an oasis in the midst of a very busy city.”

The company says it will add a second drive-thru lane and install permanent canopies to create a faster and more efficient ordering process and make its kitchen larger.
The restaurant says the added space will also provide easier access to inside. However, the owner said the new location will no longer have a traditional play area.
While the Chick-fil-A will close on Thursday, it’s unclear when the demolition for the property will begin. The company expects to re-open sometime later this year.
