Marietta Walmart store re-opened after bomb threat

MARIETTA, Ga. — A Marietta Walmart store has been reopened following a bomb threat Wednesday afternooon.

Cobb County police say a threat was called in to the Marietta store on Cobb Parkway around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say they learned of a threat at an Albany Walmart, and possible another, going on at about the same time.

Store workers were let back in at about 4:45 p.m.  after the sweep of the store was complete.

Dozens of people were inside the store at the time. Just days before Christmas, it is considered a busy day for holiday shopping.

Police say there was a quick and frantic effort to evacuate all shoppers from the store. Many shoppers were not told what was going on.

Police sealed off the shopping strip and set up a command post to begin a search of the store.
