LAGRANGE, Ga. — A pregnant woman and her unborn child are dead after she was found stabbed to death Wednesday morning.
Police found 26-year-old Breanna Burgess’ body while patrolling the area of Fort Drive at 2:30 a.m.
Burgess’ family said she was a mother of three and was 20 weeks pregnant at the time of her murder.
“She didn’t deserve this and this was the last thing we expected to happen,” the family said in a statement.

Police arrested Curteze Avery and Shallandra Freeman at their home and charged them with Burgess’ murder and feticide for the death of her unborn child.
Detectives say that Burgess, Avery and Freeman had all known one another for several years and that the suspects targeted Burgess. Their motives are currently unknown.
Both Avery and Freeman are being held in the Troup County Jail without bond.
