HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. — People in Warner Robins are proud of their hometown hero, Jake Fromm, the UGA quarterback who has helped his team get to the National Championship in his freshman year.
Channel 2's Berndt Petersen went to Warner Robins in Houston County, where he met with some of Fromm's family members.
Fromm’s father returned home Thursday from California, where the Bulldogs beat Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl to advance to the National Championship game in Atlanta.
"For a southern kid -- I grew up here -- I never dreamed of ever playing Notre Dame and being at the Rose Bowl, much less watching my own son do these things in the same year," Emerson Fromm said.

Jake Fromm's whole family traveled from Houston County for the Rose Bowl.
"When the game was over, I was crying. My wife was crying. My 9-year-old was crying. My 8-year-old was crying. I'm hugging a Georgia fan I've never met in my life and he's crying," Jake's uncle, Barret Fleming, said.
Emerson Fromm said he wants to slow down time and savor every moment of this season.
"It's just surreal that you look down and I know that kid. He's just one of us," he said.
Fromm's family members aren't the only ones proud of him. His whole town is behind him.
The local Huddle House sign spells out "It's a Fromm Thing. Go Dawgs."
Lynn Montgomery thought of the idea for the sign after the Rose Bowl.
"Right after they won, I came down here in my PJs freezing to death," she said.
Many people around town said they have known Jake Fromm since he was a little boy and they're sure he will lead the Georgia Bulldogs to a national title.
"I mean, everyone has a hometown hero. It's like Wrightsville has Herschel Walker and we have Jake Fromm," Montgomery said.
