FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A judge has granted a $250,000 bond for rapper Lil Durk and he could get out of jail at any time.
Channel 2 Action News was there as Fulton County Judge Kevin Farmer rejected a request by prosecutors to keep the rapper, whose full name is Durk Derrick Banks, in custody.
The criminal case against him will move forward.
Farmer said the charges against Banks were serious, but he noted that Banks had turned himself in and didn't appear to have taken any steps to dodge an arrest warrant.
"I've known Derrick in a very tense environment in Chicago and I've never witnessed him lashing out," said Banks' pastor from Chicago. "It's always been smiles and it's always been jokes. He's always been a good character."
Under the conditions of his bond, the rapper cannot be anywhere near a weapon; he must be in the house from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. every day; and he may not attempt to intimidate any witness. He'll also be required to wear an ankle monitor at all times.
"There's no way I would come from Chicago and speak on his behalf if I thought there would be any type of risk. And I definitely wouldn't want to ruin my name by vouching for him," the pastor said.
