ATLANTA — Quarterback Carson Beck chose the University of Miami as his transfer portal destination.
But before he answered the call for the Hurricanes, there were two other teams that wanted Beck to stay in the Southeastern Conference, according to a report from USA Today.
USA Today’s Matt Hayes reports that Beck received calls from Georgia and Alabama. Hayes cited “a person close to Beck’s decision making” in his reporting. Neither Georgia nor Alabama have confirmed the report.
Beck ended up signing with Miami less than 24 hours after he entered the portal.

There was speculation from some fans if Beck had considered going back to Georgia.
While he won two national championship rings, both were as a backup to Stetson Bennett. Beck and Georgia missed the College Football Playoff in 2023. Then this past season, Beck suffered a season-ending elbow injury in the SEC Championship in December and had surgery later that month.
At the time of his surgery, Beck hadn’t decided on his future. UGA put out a statement on Dec. 23 that coaches expected Beck to make a full recovery and would be ready to throw in the spring of 2025.
Five days later on Dec. 28, Beck declared for the draft. On Jan. 9, he announced he would no longer enter the draft and transfer to Miami.
Multiple reports say that Beck will make between $3 million and $4 million through his name, image and likeness (NIL) deal with the Miami collective.
