EAST POINT, Ga. — Police are searching for the person who killed a beloved East Point father.
On Thursday, Channel 2 Action News spoke to the brother of Riyadh Nuriddin.
Police said the 36-year-old father of three was shot inside his family's restaurant Wednesday night during a robbery.
"He focused on the positive and not on the negative and that's what you want to do now. That's exactly what I want to do," Mustafaa Nuriddin told Channel 2's Kerry Kavanaugh.
Mustafaa Nurridin wanted to focus on his beloved brother's life, not his death.
He found out what happened when his sister called early Wednesday.
"She said that there's been an incident at Mom's restaurant. You may want to call Riyadh and make sure he's OK," Mustafaa Nurridin said.
When Nurridin called his little brother, he got no answer. His heart sank.
Police are now searching for a killer who they say attempted to rob Riyadh, shooting him in the kitchen of Ikhlas Seafood.
The restaurant and the Nurridin family have been part of the fabric of the community for more than three decades.
Family said Ryiadh loved his neighborhood and Kavanaugh quickly learned they loved him back.
"He came and helped his momma with the restaurant every night, real good man, real nice," said family friend Anthony Sanders.
"He tried to help everybody. Homeless dudes would be out here and stuff and he tried to feed them, do what he can to help people," said coworker Chris Burgess.
"Especially African-American men, the stereotypes that's placed on a lot of us, he was the pinnacle of what a man should be," said Mustafaa Nuriddin.
Kavanaugh spoke to Nurridin's brother at the family's second restaurant in Southwest Atlanta. He said he runs that shop.
Ryiadh helped their mother at the original in East Point. Mustafaa said even though Rhiyadh was his younger brother, he looked up to him.
He said he was a man known for his faith, his love for his family and his willingness to help anyone in need.
"You know one way to touch people's soul is when you feed them so, my brother touched a lot of souls," Mustafaa said. "He fed a lot of people."
Police believe the robber stole Nurridins' pickup and took off in it.
They are searching for a 1999 tan, Ford F-150 with the Georgia tag: BQI-3987.
Nuriddin leaves behind a wife and three children.
