Roads re-open after St. Patrick's Day Parade

ATLANTA — Thousands lined the streets of Midtown Atlanta for the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.

Peachtree Street was closed between 16th Street and Fifth Street starting at 11 a.m. The parade began at noon.

The roads re-opened around 3 p.m.

The parade began at Peachtree Street and 16th Street.  It traveled south on Peachtree Street to Fifth Street, then disbanded on Fifth Street from Peachtree Street to West Peachtree Street.

Police encouraged parade revelers to use MARTA to get to the midtown area.

Rep. John Lewis was this year's grand marshal.
