ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. — The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office honored a deputy Monday who died after contracting the coronavirus.
Steven Minor, 54, worked for the department nearly 19 years.
Fellow officers laid a wreath on his patrol car in a ceremony last week. They gathered at 10 a.m., and then started a procession through Conyers.

The public gave their respects by lining the route that went past Heritage High School and Edwards Middle Schools
The procession ended at Springfield Baptist Church where a balloon release took place in deputy Minor’s honor.
Minor’s daughter Asia fought back tears talking about what her father meant to so many.
“The type of man my dad was, I know he was a father figure to so many people, and what he means to me, he means to a lot of people, and appreciate y’all and love y’all like he did,” Asia Minor said.
