On Feb. 12, officers Andre Samuels, William Smith, and Dontavius Wright responded to a structure fire on Willow Creek Court in Conyers.
The officers said they could hear a woman calling from her bedroom window.
While Samuels and Wright broke into the front door, the smoke was so thick that officers could not see anything.

Eventually, Smith broke the window and climbed through without hesitation, and located the woman crying out in the heavy smoke.
Smith passed her to Samuels just outside who carried her to safety before the fire department and emergency responders arrived.
Samuels, Smith, and Wright were awarded the Life Saving Commendation by the Conyers Police Department.
