ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. — A shooting inside a Rockdale County bar has left three people wounded.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. Sunday at Sudo’s Bar and Grill along Salem Road.

Investigators said James Simpson got into a fight inside the nightclub with one of the victims and gunfire erupted, injuring a total of three people - a security guard and two customers.

A customer who asked only to be referred to as Marcus told Channel 2′s Christian Jennings that he’s a regular at the popular Conyers area bar and he would have probably been there Sunday night if it wasn’t for his daughter’s birthday party.

“I was shocked cause usually never no activity like that. Nice vibe in there,” Marcus said.

An off-duty Rockdale County Sheriff’s Deputy who was working security at the bar along with another security guard were able to detain Simpson and take his gun.

The bar owner told Jennings that the fight between Simpson and one of the victims started over a spilled drink.

“Man up. Have a good gesture. Walk away no matter what happened -- spilt drink stepped, on shoe,” Marcus said. “Once you have alcohol in your system, no telling what you’ll do.”

A viewer sent us video of a helicopter landing behind the business, ready to fly one of the victims to the hospital.

Simpson is being charged with aggravated assault and reckless conduct.

The three shooting victims are said to have non-life-threatening injuries. The bar’s owner said he’s thankful no one was killed.
