ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. — A home invasion in Rockdale County ended with two doors that had been kicked down and a resident exchanging gunfire with two suspects, injuring the victim and one of the alleged thieves, authorities said.
About 6 p.m., two men kicked in the door of a home off Lost Valley Drive, a Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said. A woman, who lives in the home, ran into her bedroom before the two men kicked down that door as well.
The woman began to shoot at the suspects, who returned fire, the sheriff’s office said. The woman was shot twice and was flown to a hospital for surgery. Her condition was not provided.
Later Tuesday night, a man was found with three gunshot wounds in Lithonia. The sheriff’s office said he may be one of the home invasion suspects.
He was taken to a hospital, where he is undergoing surgery. His condition was also not provided.
No other information was released. Neighbors said they would like to see more patrols in the area.
