ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. — A Rockdale County man was arrested after firing shots at a sheriff’s deputy Tuesday evening.
Officials say on Jan. 7 around 11 p.m., a Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to the 1500 block of Locomotive Road. When he arrived at the home, the suspect immediately fired shots in the deputy’s direction.

The deputy in respond returned fire. It is unclear if the suspect was hit by gunfire.
After firing at the deputy, the suspect barricaded himself inside the house, prompting the RCSO SWAT team to be dispatched to the scene.

The SWAT team safely made entry inside of the home and removed suspect, Lorenzo Banks.
Banks was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. Officials say their investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be pending.
