ATLANTA — UPDATE: The restaurant has been re-inspected and the new score is a 97.

A popular restaurant at Atlantic Station failed a health inspection.

Rosa Mexicano first opened in New York more than 30 years ago. It is known for its homemade guacamole whipped up right at the table, but some customers have been looking at something else.

They’ve looked up and noticed missing tiles and a ceiling that doesn’t look good. It was just one of the problems that led to the Mexican restaurant getting a health inspection score of 52 on Sept. 8. %

Lisa Murphy, who Channel 2 Action News spoke to at Atlantic Station, said the restaurant needs to be cleaned up, and she wouldn’t eat there unless the score is back in the high 90s.

Other violations included foods not held cold enough, including shrimp, sausage and chicken.

Rosa Mexicano was just inspected back in March. At that time they had a 97. Now they've dropped to a 52.

A manager told Channel 2 Action News that the ceiling is being repaired this week.

For a comment, we were referred to the company headquarters. A spokesperson emailed us this statement:

“Rosa Mexicano is taking swift action to address any and all violations noted.”

A Fulton County health inspector will re-inspect the restaurant this month. We’ll let you know what that score is.
