ATLANTA — Scattered showers and storms dumped heavy rain across metro Atlanta Thursday afternoon.

The heaviest part of those storms have moved out, but Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns said similar storms could happen every afternoon for the next several days, though some days may see more than others.

Parts of metro Atlanta experienced major flooding, including a section of Atlanta’s busy Northside Drive being completely submerged.

In Cobb County, fire crews had to evacuate 27 children and four adults from a day care center because of rising floodwaters.

Crews in DeKalb County are also working to remove a tree that fell onto a car at Kings Highway and Ansley Street. It’s unclear at this time if anyone was inside the car when the tree fell.
