HALL COUNTY, Ga. — “Editors Note:” an earlier version of the story stated bus drivers could make more per hour than some teachers, however those numbers were incorrectly calculated using a 52 week work schedule.

The district is offering drivers $26+ per hour. New drivers could also receive a $1,000 bonus. The district is offering full-time benefits, paid sick leave, holidays and weekends off, and summers off with a paycheck.
The $26+ hourly rate is still below what many teachers in the district earn per hour, according to the district’s teacher salary schedule. Beginning pay for a teacher with a 4-year degree is 47,598, adding up to $31.31 per hour for the 190 day school year.
