MARIETTA, Ga. — Police confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that they have found the body of an 89-year-old woman who disappeared from a memory care facility in Marietta three days ago.
Patricia Miele hasn’t been seen or heard from since 11 p.m. Friday. She was last seen at the Greenwood Assisted Living and Memory Care facility on Whitlock Avenue.
Investigators said they found Miele in a nearby lake.

It was a massive search including drones, search boats, and K9s.
“We searched the facility five separate times. We searched the grounds where she was located roughly 12 times. We did a grid search,” Marietta Public Information Officer Chuck McPhilamy said.
But 48 hours after the 89-year-old woman disappeared from the living facility, it turned into a tragic discovery.
“It is with deep sorry that I have to report today that just after 11 o’clock this morning two walkers in the area discovered our missing woman floating in a pond,” McPhilamy said.
Miele’s body was found at Kennesaw Memorial Park.

Channel 2 Cobb County Bureau Chief Michele Newell spoke with Miele’s son, Anthony Miele before he found out.
“I’m very hopeless and heartbroken as well as very suspicious. Very troubled about what really happened,” Anthony Miele said.
“Does it concern you that this facility doesn’t have security cameras,” Newell asked Anthony Miele.
“Yes, it absolutely does,” Anthony Miele answered.
Newell stopped by the facility to get answers but was told to leave.
Investigations from 2020 reveal problems with missing medicine from residents, mostly narcotics.
“At this point, the investigation continues into how this happened as well as if there was foul play. No initial indication that’s the case,” McPhilamy

Anthony Miele is on his way to Georgia from Florida. He was on vacation with his family when he found out about his mother’s disappearance.
He told Newell he enjoyed having coffee with his mom and going on walks. The family is thankful to the Marietta Police Department and so many others who helped out.
Patricia Miele’s actual cause of death is still being investigated.
