Severe storms make their way through metro Atlanta, north Ga.

ATLANTA — Severe weather has made its way out of much of metro Atlanta and north Georgia.

Severe Weather Team 2 tracked the storms LIVE on Channel 2 Action News for hours on Friday afternoon.

The storm sparked several tornado warnings and several severe thunderstorms as they moved across the state. There were numerous reports of damaged across a wide swath of North Georgia.

A tornado watch is in effect for much of north Georgia until 8 p.m.

A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes to form. A tornado warning means a tornado has been spotted or indicated by radar and you should take cover immediately.

  • Risk of thunderstorms moving into west Georgia early afternoon.
  • Wind gusts up to 45 mph in metro Atlanta
  • Areas of northwest Georgia may see wind gusts up to 50 mph
  • There is a wind advisory in effect from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday
