Customer shot during robbery at DeKalb CVS

Police are searching for two robbers who targeted two DeKalb stores Thursday morning.
The first incident happened at the CVS on 2586 Lawrenceville Highway near Frazier Road in Decatur around 9:15 a.m.
According to police, there were at least four customers in the store at the time and the robbers stole their wallets and a cell phone before running away.
“I was ringing up a customer, and then all I saw was a red mask and a gun pointed in my face telling me to empty the drawer,” cashier Briana Sanders, 18, said. “I’ve never been that scared in my life.”
One customer was shot in the hand and taken to the hospital.
“I was told that he began chasing the elderly man, and then the elderly man stopped and actually tried to take the gun, and that’s when he was shot in the hand,” Sanders said.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police said the robbers then hit up a Dollar General on North Indian Creek Drive in Clarkston. They took a briefcase and a small amount of cash from the register, and then got away.

The runaway robbers forced lockdowns at a nearby middle and elementary school. The CVS also shut down, but is now back open.
Sanders’ mother is thankful her daughter is safe after the frightening encounter.
“I’m just glad. It could have been a totally different phone call,” she said.
