AUSTELL, Ga. — Six Flags Over Georgia and Six Flags White Water are still working on reopening dates in Georgia. However, we now know some of the new changes guests can expect.

Many people in metro Atlanta grew up going to Six Flags all summer but when the park opens up, things are going to be a lot different.

The biggest change for the park is that visitors can’t just show up anymore. Everyone has to make an online reservation for the park even if they have a free ticket.

“If you go a day and you see there is no availability, you will be placed on a wait list for that day and when a slot opens up we will contact you,” said Gene Petriello, director of marketing for Six Flags Over Georgia and White Water.

The park staff will strictly enforce social distancing. Six Flags has placed distance markets at the entrance, on all rides, in the restrooms and dining areas.

Everyone over the age of 2 will have to wear a mask while visiting the park. Some exceptions will apply, especially in the water parks.

“You will have to wear a mask to visit our parks. If you do not have a mask you will not be able to visit us and you must wear that mask throughout your visit,” Petriello said.

Six Flags staff sent Channel 2 Action News video of thermal imaging technology that will scan the temperature of every single guest walking in and all workers.

The park will also have high-tech security screenings that allow touchless bag checks. To keep the parks sanitized and clean, Six Flags parks will create “clean teams."

“We’re implementing a new clean team at Six Flags. Every park will have it," Petriello said. "That clean team will be going throughout the park and continuous cleaning all those high touch points throughout the park.”
