COBB COUNTY, Ga. — To the surprise of some, many metro Atlanta and north Georgia residents woke up Saturday morning to some snow on their cars, lawns or homes. Unless you were high up in the mountains, most people saw a dusting or small accumulation of cold, white, powdery snow.

Channel 2′s Elizabeth Rawlins spoke to the LaRocca family in Cobb County, who were excited to wake up to a snow-covered yard.
“It was really cool, it was really powdery, it’s great for a snowball fight,” said Joe LaRocca.
“Are you going to build a snowman?” Rawlins asked. “Yeah,” said Nicholas LaRocca.
Marge Rockwell said the snow makes the outside just feel different.
“I did wake up in the middle of the night and it was quiet,” Rockwell said. “And when there is snow on the ground, everything is different.”
The snow usually brings almost everyone out in metro Atlanta, but this time, bitterly cold winds and the snowy ground had many people thinking twice about coming out to play.
“I can’t remember when it was like this,” Joe LaRocca said.

Rawlins said she and her photographer drove around the Marietta area for quite some time before seeing the Rockwell’s on a walk.
“We are from the north. So this is par for the course,” Rockwell said. “This is cold for Georgia, but we know how to dress, we have on layers.”
Rockwell and the LaRocca family both said the cold was too much for some people.
“We haven’t seen as many people out walking as we normally do,” Rockwell said. “We ran into somebody yesterday who said ‘I will not be out here tomorrow’”.
“I didn’t want to come out here because I was so cold,” said Nicholas LaRocca.
