GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — The Sons of Confederate Veterans have refiled a lawsuit against Gwinnett County.
The group is fighting the removal of the confederate veterans’ monument at the old county courthouse.

The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners approved the removal of the monument outside the historic courthouse in Lawrenceville during a meeting.
The monument was removed in Feb. 2021 and put into storage.
Commissioners voted to remove it two years ago citing safety concerns and vandalism.
In a press release, it stated that “more lawsuits are forthcoming.”

Last year, Georgia’s Supreme Court ruled that people can sue over the removal of confederate monuments if they live in the community where those monuments are located.
