UNION CITY, Ga. — A south Fulton County road was shut down for hours as police investigated a deadly crash.
Two people were killed in the crash involving three cars on Jonesboro Highway and Buffington Road.
Witnesses say the first two cars got into a minor fender bender. When they got out to check the damage, a truck, belonging to Fulton County, came over the hill and slammed into the cars.
Murphy McKinney, 84, died on the scene. Mary Hughes was taken to the hospital, where she later died.

Channel 2's Steve Gehlbach spoke to a witness who said the images from the crash will forever be etched in her memory.
"Nobody's life is promised. We can be here today and gone tomorrow," Linda Waters said.
Waters said she was on her way to work when she saw a black car and silver pickup truck that had just gotten into a fender bender.
"Once he checked to see what the damage was, it was minor, he came back to the end of the truck. I heard a loud crash and see this big truck had run into the back of the little truck," she said.
McKinney ended up pinned between two trucks. Police say the truck driver who hit him remained at the scene.
Family members said McKinney had just celebrated his 84th birthday last week.
Waters said the stretch of Jonesboro Road where the crash happened is both busy and dangerous.
"They need to do something about the traffic lights and they need to add speed bumps," she said.
Police said the crash is still under investigation.
