SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A 5-year-old boy has been reunited with his family after police say a 15-year-old carjacker stole his father’s car with the child inside.
NewsChopper 2 captured the reunion in Fairburn Monday morning outside the pawn shop where Fairburn police say it all started.
Fairburn Deputy Chief Anthony Bazydlo told Channel 2's Lori Wilson they were called to the Fairburn Pawn Shop at 33 Southwest Broad St. around 10 a.m.
The father told officers his son stayed in the car with the doors locked and engine running while he went in the shop.
Police said a 15-year-old carjacker somehow got inside the Dodge Charger Hellcat and drove away.
When the father heard his car back up and speed away, he started screaming and the pawn shop workers instantly called 911.
Police later found the boy after the teen had dropped him off at a house nearby.
"He was knocking on the door and he said 'A bad man just kidnapped me," homeowner Polly Binoin told Wilson.

Binoin told Wilson she called 911 immediately and tried to keep the boy and herself calm.
"He wasn't crying but he was nervous. Because he kept asking me a lot of questions about my family and stuff," she said. "I told the police I thank God I was at home."
After the teen dropped off the 5-year-old, Union City police later spotted the car and began to chase it. They say the 15-year-old hit another car and then crashed the Charger.
Police told Wilson they found cocaine, a stolen gun and fake cash with the teen. They also believe he is connected to the theft of another car two weeks ago.
The 15-year-old has not been identified, but he faces kidnapping and auto theft charges.
