SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A boy is home recovering after being shot while playing in a bounce house last week.
Lawrence Williams, 3, was at a neighborhood block party in College Park last Thursday when police say someone opened fire, striking Lawrence and a 5-year-old girl.
Channel 2's Matt Johnston spoke Wednesday with the boy's mother. Megan Holmes says doctors told her they believe the bullet nearly killed her son.

“He's beyond tough. He's a little soldier,” Holmes said. “The bullet, they said if it would have went a couple more inches, it would have pierced his lungs. He would have bled to death on the inside."

When she heard the gunshots, she ran outside and Lawrence was running toward her.
“So I seen the blood coming out of his mouth,” Holmes said. “Just thought it was over.”
Fearing she would never see his smile again, she says she didn't wait for an ambulance.
“I wasn’t going to wait around when I can take him to the hospital,” Holmes said.
Now she worries about whoever pulled the trigger while she waits for police to arrest him.
“Maybe he has a vendetta now or something, and it makes me nervous,” Holmes said. “I want to move, I don’t want to be around here no more.”
Police said the 5-year-old girl who was shot is receiving rehab treatment and is recovering.
Thankfully, Lawrence will not have any long-term effects from his injuries, his mother says.
But Holmes is concerned that so far, no arrests have been made. This is the second brush with gun violence to hit this family in a year.
