1 lane of I-285 SB reopens after tractor-trailer full of pasta catches fire

EAST POINT, Ga. — A portion of I-285 southbound is shut down in south Fulton County after a tractor-trailer caught fire.

According to Triple Team Traffic, I-285 SB is closed at Camp Creek Pkwy. in East Point.

NewsChopper 2 is flying over the scene and was able to zoom into the trailer and see that it was filled with pasta.

The tractor was creating large amounts of smoke in the area for over an hour.

Traffic is being diverted onto Hwy. 166 westbound as an alternate route.

I-75 and I-85 southbound and I-20 eastbound as alternates are severely backed up, according to Triple Team Traffic.

It’s unclear what led to the fire and if anyone was injured.

The fire has been put out, but the interstate is still closed. There is no timeline when it is expected to reopen.
