East Point police looking for victims of person who shot at random cars

EAST POINT, Ga. — East Point police are asking for any victims of a random shooter to come forward.

Police said they were called about an active shooter near the Lakeside Preserve subdivision early in the morning of Jan. 23.

When officers arrived, a person ran into a wooded area. Officers searched the area and eventually took Joseph Washington, 19, into custody at the corner of Otter Dam Court and Kingfisher Drive. Washington had a rifle tucked into his pants, police said.

Video provided by police appears to show a person they said was Washington shooting at passing cars, knocking out the headlight of one car, before officers arrived.

The East Point Police Department and the City of South Fulton Police Department are asking any victims or witnesses of the shootings to come forward. Officials said shootings happened the area of Camp Creek Parkway and Fairburn Road early in the morning on Jan. 23.
