SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — Police said a woman shot her ex-boyfriend in self-defense after he kicked in her front door in South Fulton County. The victim told Channel 2 Action News she felt like her life was in danger.
The woman, who did not want to be identified, said she had just broken up with the man Wednesday and was home with her five children when he came crashing through her front door.
Bullet holes at the home on Montilly Place tell the story of the mother in fear.
"We received a call this morning, I believe on Montilly Place, of a woman screaming, saying someone's trying to break into her house," South Fulton Police Lt. Charles Cook said.

South Fulton police officials said the man who eventually kicked in the front door was indeed the woman's ex-boyfriend.
Once he was inside, police said, the woman warned the man several times that she would shoot him if he didn't stop coming toward her.
According to detectives, she fired three shots, hitting him once in the chest. The man was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.
"She was in fear of her life and was trying to defend herself and her family and use necessary force she felt was appropriate at the time," Cook said.
Police said they have been to the home before. The victim told Channel 2 Action News the last time she broke up with the man, he lost his temper.
Back in March, the woman said she fired multiple shots outside her house.
"There will be charges filed on him, felony charges, and at this time, there's no pending charges on the victim," Cook said.
