South Fulton police searching for man they say caused fatal crash in August

SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — Police in the city of South Fulton are searching for a hit and run suspect they say caused a wreck that took a man’s life.

Investigators say Juan Carlos Medrano was driving a blue Chevrolet Silverado that belonged to the mother of his children on August 24 when he attempted to illegally pass a tractor trailer.

When Medrano crossed the yellow line on Cascade Palmetto Highway, he hit another car head-on, killing Jerry Long. Long was on his way to work.

Police say Medrano ran from the scene before police and EMS arrived and did not attempt to help Long.

Once captured and arrested, Medrano will be charged with vehicular homicide and hit and run.
