SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Students were on edge Wednesday morning after a robbery at gunpoint on the campus of a South Fulton school.

Officials said two former students trespassed on the Benjamin Banneker High School campus Monday evening and approached two current students. The two young men then flashed a gun and took a cellphone and left campus, the principal said.

No students were hurt. The two suspects are still on the run.

The school’s principal, Dr. Duke Bradley, says he's making immediate changes.

All after-school activities are canceled until a revised safety plan is made in collaboration with the school district. Kids will have to wait for after-school rides in a centralized location outside the school. Before students could wait inside in a few different areas, making them difficult to monitor.

The principal is looking to extend one of his school resource officer's hours.

He also plans to ask Union City police to patrol the area until 8 p.m.

April Carr's son used to go to Banneker High. She told Channel 2 Action News she always felt he was safe there so she was shocked when we told her about the robbery inside the school.

“Your kids aren’t safe anywhere,” Carr said.

School leaders said they know the suspects because they recognized them on surveillance footage.
