SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Parents told Channel 2 Action News they're waiting for police to identify four teenagers killed in a crash Monday afternoon in south Fulton County.

One other teen survived the wreck.

All of the students attended Langston Hughes High School in Fairburn.

An SUV and a semi-truck collided at intersection of Butner and Campbellton Fairburn road.

Grief counselors will be on hand at the school Tuesday to assist students and staff through what the assistant principal calls a tragedy for the school.

Meanwhile, families are waiting in agony as investigators work to positively identify the victims.

Ken Walker's family has been trying to contact his grandson, a sophomore at Langston Hughes, with no luck.

"I'm expecting the worst but hoping for the best," the grieving grandfather told Channel 2's Rikki Klaus.

Klaus said he was shaking as he spoke with her.

"If it's God's will, it's God's will," Walker said.

Police said four teenage boys died in a wreck involving a Lincoln Navigator and a tractor-trailer, on Highway-92 at Bunter Road around 1:15 p.m. Monday.

Walker suspects his grandson was one of them.

Fulton County police say a preliminary investigation reveals the teenage driver ran a red light and crashed into the tractor-trailer.

Channel 2's Tyisha Fernandes spoke with a witness who ran to the car and helped the only survivor, a teenage girl.

"It's the worst thing I've ever seen, I've ever witnessed," the witness said. "We tried to calm down the young girl in the back. Her feet were stuck. Me and another lady were able to talk to her and help her move her feet."

Paramedics rushed the girl to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Police have not confirmed any names yet. They say the tractor-trailer driver has minor injuries.

A Fulton County schools spokeswoman said the four teens killed all attended Langston Hughes High School. Monday night, Walker is remembering the good times shared recently with his grandson.

"I saw him when he just celebrated his 16th birthday. Made a little comment like, ‘Man you getting taller than your granddaddy,’" Walker told Klaus.

Police said the driver of the navigator was ejected. Klaus went to one neighborhood Monday night where three of the victims lived.
