GRIFFIN, Ga. — The Griffin Police Department said one of their own has passed away following a battle with COVID-19.
The department said Sgt. Todd Thomas, 52, died Tuesday morning.
Thomas began his career with the department in 1999 and worked his way up to sergeant.

The department said Thomas had planned on retiring in early 2022.
“Please join us in extending our most heartfelt sympathies to Sgt. Todd Thomas’ family. Our thoughts and prayers will be with the Thomas family today and in the days to come,” the department said in a news release.
