There is estimated to be in excess of $17 million in damage across the county. The sheriff’s office said that number may grow.
Between the city of Griffin and the county as a whole, roughly 2,100 homes were damaged with an additional 100 or more destroyed.

Donations of tarps are badly needed. If you would like to donate tarps, contact 678-463-4508. That is also the number to use if you would like to volunteer or make donations to relief efforts.
The sheriff’s office urges residents to exercise patience and understanding when it comes to the people working to restore power.
“Calling over and over (squeaky wheel approach), and/or cussing out the volunteers and employees answering the phones, will not get your power restored any faster than it already is,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “This damage was massive and it will take time to restore power to some areas.”
