ATLANTA — Strong storms are moving away from metro Atlanta and out of Georgia Monday night.
Severe Weather Team 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said a severe thunderstorm watch for central Alabama was in effect until 9 p.m CDT. That included Randolph County, Alabama, part of Channel 2's viewing area. The storms produced hail, and the trend strengthened as they move into Georgia.
Channel 2 Action News viewers sent us photos of hail that fell outside their homes.
In addition to hail, the main risks included strong wind gusts and heavy rain. The tornado risk was very low with this system.
Behind the cold front, clouds will linger Tuesday and we’ll have isolated showers. It will be much cooler as temperatures drop from the low 70s today to the upper 50s and low 60s tomorrow.
Through the rest of the week, you can expect temperatures to gradually recover toward the low 70s by Friday. It will be mostly sunny Wednesday through Friday.
