CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — Trees were twisted off and thrown on homes across the City of Ball Ground in Cherokee County Thursday.

“All I heard was a roar,” said Charles Mobley.

Mobley said he heard the wind coming outside his home on Conns Creek Rd.

“I was taking a nap, and so I heard this real roar, and I got up and opened the door,” said Mobley. “And when I opened the door, I seen the trees, just everything, just going wild. I slammed the door, grabbed the dog, went in the closet.”

When it was over, he went outside his home to see trees and power lines trapping, not just him, but most his neighbors in their driveways.

Seven miles away, a tree blew on top of a semi and transformers caught on fire.

Five more miles away, on Bishop Rd., families were standing in the rain, unsure where to turn for help.

“All of our cars are stuck, and we can’t get home. All the roads are blocked,” said Brittany Wyatt.
