BARROW COUNTY, Ga. — A Barrow County high school student is in the hospital with serious injuries after being involved in fight with another student Thursday.

The violent confrontation was caught on cellphone video by students at Winder-Barrow High School and shared on social media.

The disturbing video shows one student slam the other girl's head against a wall with so much force you can hear a loud pop.

The student was flown to Children's Hospital of Atlanta, the school district confirmed Friday. Her condition has not been released.

Channel 2 Investigative Reporter Nicole Carr went to Winder to confirm details of the incident after several concerned parents reached out to Channel 2 Action News.

The Barrow County Sheriff's Office said it is investigating through the county's school resource officers.

The Sheriff's Office said it believes about 15 to 20 people witnessed the fight, which happened between 1:30 and 2 p.m. Thursday.

Officials said they are not jumping to conclusions about who started what, but they are in contact with both students' families investigating the motive. They are also trying to determine if more camera footage is available.

A woman who identified herself as the victim's mother on Twitter contacted Carr, but said she wasn't able to talk yet.

Parents who alerted Channel 2 Action News about the video said they are upset because they were not told about the fight and said bullying is a problem at the school.

Carr talked to parents who were shocked when she showed them the video.

"That level of hostility ... It's just so violent," Yameka Campbell said. "It just looked like pure hatred to do that."

"It almost makes me emotional to think that's somebody's child," Allison Lee said.

Campbell said she was upset because parents weren't informed about the video.

"Even if it were just a mass email that got sent out to all the parents, you know, just saying there was a rather violent fight that broke out," Campbell said. "Just to see that they know, that they are investigating and there's going to be a process in place."

Some parents said bullying is out of control at the school.

"I've heard a lot of things," Lee said. "I'm not judging. But bullying -- it's got to stop. Where do you draw the line?"

Late Friday night, a woman who identified herself as the victim's mother, sent Carr a statement saying her daughter was stable and thanked everyone for their support.
