RABUN COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities in north Georgia said a person drowned after running from a traffic stop.
The Rabun County sheriff’s office said they were called to assist the Georgia State Patrol with a traffic stop in Tallulah Falls on Monday. When deputies were on their way, one of the people involved in the traffic stop ran off and went into the river, authorities said.

Authorities tried to find the suspect using a K9 officer, but they were unable to locate the person.
The Rabun County Search and Rescue was called to help find the person and they later found the body submerged in the river.
The Rabun County sheriff’s office said their thoughts and prayers are with “everyone involved.”
“If you see any of the Rabun County Search and Rescue members, please be sure to tell them thank you for their service and dedication,” the sheriff’s office said on Facebook.
The drowning victim has not yet been identified.
