HABERSHAM COUNTY, Ga. — A suspected carjacker was shot and killed during a traffic stop outside Clarkesville Sunday morning.
Suspected carjacker shot, killed Habersham County
Habersham County sheriff’s officials tell Channel 2 Action News there was a BOLO for an aggravated assault suspect in Clarkesville after getting word that a silver Ford Explorer was carjacked by the man in White County.
Tocca Police Chief Tim Jarrell confirmed to Channel 2 Action News the man also tried to carjack another vehicle at Pruitt Health in Stephens County.
In that case, we’re told the man flashed a gun but was unable to steal the car.
Authorities in surrounding counties were told to be on the lookout and that's when a Habersham County deputy spotted the stolen SUV.

“The deputy saw the vehicle that fit the description, attempted a traffic stop, located the suspect, vehicle down by the interchange, drove north and pulled into this driveway here,” said Mike Wurtz with the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators say during the stop the suspect, identified as Christopher Collins, 24, failed to show his hands when the deputy asked him repeatedly. When Collins got out of the car, investigators say a deputy shot him.
Collins was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured.
The GBI is investigating the incident.
