Atlanta Police arrested a man armed with a gun outside police headquarters on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident happened outside police headquarters near the municipal court building along Pryor Street, just north of Memorial Drive.
A police spokesman told Channel 2′s Dave Huddleston the man threatened to take his own life. He was taken into custody just before 5 p.m.

Police closed several streets in the area, including Pryor and Garnett streets, while they negotiated with the man.
APD officers are negotiating with a suicidal man outside of 226 Peachtree St. SW. Preliminary information indicates the man has been located in a vehicle & Pryor St. SW is blocked between Garnett St. & Trinity Ave. Please avoid the area at this time.

Police say there were no evacuations or injuries. Officers said the suspect would receive a mental evaluation.
