GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A busy Gwinnett County road is reopen hours after heavy police and SWAT activity.
Gwinnett County police told Channel 2 Action News that SWAT was serving a warrant at a house next to Scenic Highway in Snellville around 6 a.m.
Police said the suspect robbed a nearby Chevron gas station Wednesday night.
Authorities blocked the area on Scenic Highway and Webb Ginn House Road as they worked to resolve the stand off. The area is near the popular The Shoppes at Webb Gin.
Channel 2′s Steve Gehlbach at the scene said at least a dozen officers were on scene.
After several hours, the SWAT discovered that the suspect was no longer in the home.
As the officers were packing up their gear, they received a tip that the suspect was seen walking down Webb Gin House Road. Police said he ran from the officers but was eventually captured. T
he suspect is being treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.
