BROOKHAVEN, Ga. — SWAT teams were called to take a man into custody who barricaded himself inside a home in Brookhaven.
Brookhaven police said officers were called to reports of an assault at a home on Commons Circle. Two people at the home had non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect has been identified as Jermaine Maree, 42, of Brookhaven.
Once identified, investigators received warrants for Maree. He was charged with aggravated assault, false imprisonment, two counts of battery, and cruelty towards children in the third degree.
Maree was believed to be inside a home on Colt Drive.
Police surrounded the home and attempted to contact him;. However, after many unsuccessful attempts to contact Maree, the North Metro SWAT officers entered the home.
Maree was found deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

No officers or any of the neighbors were injured during the SWAT standoff.
One of the victims from the original assault call was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the other was treated by paramedics at the scene.
Brookhaven Police have requested the help of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to process the crime scene.
