Ted Turner hospitalized for pneumonia, ‘doing well in rehab’

ATLANTA — CNN founder Ted Turner is recovering after he was recently hospitalized for pneumonia.

A spokesperson for Turner told CNN that the media mogul is “doing well in rehab.”

“While he was diagnosed with Lewy Body dementia in 2018 and despite the health challenges it presents, Ted continues to remain resilient and engaged in his professional and personal endeavors,” Phillip Evans said in a statement to CNN.

Turner first revealed his Lewy Body dementia diagnosis in 2018. The Lewy Body Dementia Association says an estimated 1.4 million Americans are affected by the disease, which is the second most common form of degenerative dementia.

Over the years, Turner’s family has not revealed much about his disease’s progression, but in a 2022 interview, his daughter, Laura Turner Seydel said her father was brave to share his diagnosis.

“Ted is known as ‘Captain Courageous’ and he’s battling through,” she said.

Turner’s family says he remains active with his nonprofit work as a chairman for Turner Foundation and Nuclear Threat Initiative. Seydel has also said that Turner enjoys spending his time on his ranch in Montana.

Turner celebrated his 86th birthday back in November.
