PICKENS COUNTY, Ga. — A 17-year-old is being charged as an adult after deputies say he tried to hire someone to kill two people in Pickens County.
Deputies received a tip that Morgan Miles Morris was attempting to hire a hit man, so they arranged an undercover officer to meet with the teen. Morris offered to pay the undercover officer and provided information on how to carry out the murder, authorities say.
“Mr. Morris actually offered to pay that undercover agent $12,000. He asked if he was able to go along with them,” Pickens County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Kris Stancil said.%

Investigators executed a search warrant of Morris’ home and found evidence backing up the plot.
The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office contacted the potential victims and made them aware of the situation.

Deputies arrested Morris on Wednesday and charged him with criminal solicitation to commit murder. He was denied bond.
Morris’ attorney may appeal the decision.
“He didn’t act normal, so it really didn’t surprise me at all,” Morris’ Pickens High School classmate, Dalton Lowery said.
Deputies say Morris had previous trouble with the law when he was a juvenile.
One of his childhood friends said that Morris has had a hard life, losing his mother at a young age.
“We’ve always been like praying for him and stuff and their family, but we’ve kind of stayed a little distant just from all of that,” Bethany Walley said.
