COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A judge sent a Cobb County teenager to prison Wednesday afternoon, for using hot oil to attack a group of girls feuding over social media posts.

Channel 2's Ross Cavitt was in the courtroom Wednesday for the emotional plea made by the now-19-year-old girl and her mother. The judge explained why he opted for prison time.

"Again I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry," Myzell Armstrong said.

Armstrong tearfully apologized over and over for what happened at a Smyrna apartment complex nearly two years ago to the day.

Two groups of feuding teenaged girls met up to settle their dispute. The victim at the time telling Channel 2 the fight was about social media insults.

Armstrong was part of a trio that decided to boil some oil and use it to attack the other three girls.  Armstrong held open the car door as fellow defendant Zawadi Clark threw the oil in.

The attack left Ashley Hardy with second degree burns and lifetime scars.

"I just want to say forgive me forgive me for being friends with girls I thought were my friends," Armstrong said.

Armstrong was the only one of the three girls to go to trial and jurors found her guilty on all counts.  She blamed her situation on running with the wrong friends. Her mother told Judge Robert Leonard Myzell she was gullible.

“People have always taken advantage of my gullible daughter,” she said.

Leonard told the defendant her tearful apology in court today was the first time he had seen her show remorse for her crime.  He sentenced her to serve the next 4 years in prison, followed by at least 20 on probation.
