PAULDING COUNTY, Ga.,None — A riot broke out at a metro Atlanta youth detention center Friday evening. Two teens are facing charges.
The riot broke out at the Regional Youth Detention Center in Dallas, Ga. Deputies said there was a lot of damage, including broken windows and flooded cells. They said they were able to get things under control quickly.
At least two teens were blamed for the riot.
“We have taken two inmates from the YDC in custody that are 17 years old and transported them to the Paulding County Detention Center, where they will be held on additional charges for inciting a riot. There’s the possibility that more charges will be filed on them,” Paulding County Sheriff’s Sgt. Brandon Gurley told Channel 2’s Eric Philips.
Gurley said no officers were injured, but some inmates with minor injuries were treated at the facility.
It is unclear what started the riot.
