HARALSON COUNTY, Ga. — Thanks to the hundreds of you who came out and helped last week, we’re able to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Channel 2's Tom Jones is LIVE in Texas, delivering those bottles of water, on Channel 2 Action News.

On Tuesday, 10 trucks left from Bremen, Georgia, for Houston, Port Arthur and Beaumont, Texas, where the storm knocked out some municipal water systems and left thousands without clean drinking water. Two other trucks left on Monday.

The trucks are filled with a half million bottles of water that you helped WSB-TV, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, News 95-5 and AM 750, KISS 104.1, B98.5 and 97.1 The River collect during our "Convoy of Care."

"These 10 trucks here have about 45,000 pounds apiece on them," said Herschel Evans, who's driving one of the trucks.

Channel 2 Action News would like to thank Atlanta Peach Movers, Kroger, American Trucking Association, Kennesaw Transportation, Collins Trucking Company and YRC Freight for providing the trucks and movers to help load them.

Bulldog Trucking and the Chattahoochee High School football team also donated time to help load the trucks.

We would also like to thank DeKalb County, Floyd County, Oconee County and Haralson County sheriff's departments along with the Georgia Sheriff's Association for providing the escort to Texas.

Not only did they provide an escort, these groups went above and beyond collecting trucks of supplies.

"We gotta help out. I mean those people are really suffering. I'm just happy we could do this," said Orlando Lynch, the owner of Atlanta Peach Movers who donated the bulk of the tractor-trailers.

The truck drivers are donating their time to get the water to Texas.

"They bent over backwards to gather up this water and brought it to us. We're gonna do our part to take it out there to them," Evans said.

The convoy will spend the night in Louisiana Tuesday night before arriving in Texas on Wednesday.
