DULUTH, Ga. — Thieves in Duluth robbed a mail carrier and got away with his mail center master key.
The master key, otherwise known as the arrow key, opens mailboxes in two different Duluth ZIP codes. The ZIP codes affected are 30096 and 30097.
Police said it happened on Feb. 1 at the Rosemont Berkley Lake Apartments on Pleasant Hill Road, in Duluth.
“Right now somebody has access to this,” said Tanis Baptiste, who lives in the complex.
Police told Channel 2′s Action News Audrey Washington, three masked men approached the mail carrier.
One man pointed a weapon, through a jacket pocket, at the mail carrier. In addition to the key, the three men also stole the mail carrier’s tablet and other personal items.
Police are asking anyone who lives within the two impacted ZIP codes to contact their bank about the robbery, pick up their mail soon after it arrives and report any missing or tampered with mail.
It is also suggested that residents temporarily have mail delivered to their job or a P.O. box.
“It doesn’t feel safe knowing this type of stuff is happening around here,” Baptiste said.
Police said the thieves drove away in a dark-colored Dodge Journey.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Duluth Police Department.
